How often should a thermohygrometer be calibrated?
Twelve months is standard. Humidity sensors drift faster than temperature sensors, so instruments monitoring controlled environments are often placed on 6 months.
Why thermohygrometers drift
Humidity sensors are chemically sensitive and degrade with exposure to solvents, dust and condensation. The result is usually a reading that drifts low and slows down. The temperature side is more stable, which can disguise the problem — the display looks healthy while the humidity figure is quietly wrong.
