Thermometer calibration for manufacturing

Cooking, curing, drying and cold-chain checks on Perth production lines are made with digital thermometers, and the readings appear in HACCP and quality records. The calibration certificate is what links those records to national standards.

Digital thermometers are everywhere from food production to HVAC commissioning, and each one carries a probe that ages faster than the display. AmpTech calibrates handheld digital thermometers and probes in our Caversham lab against a reference thermometer traceable to national standards, at points across your working range.

Interval in manufacturing

6–12 months

Food-safety and process procedures

Setting the interval

Twelve months is standard. Thermometers used in food safety or in regulated storage checks are frequently placed on 6 months, and probes that see hot processes or cleaning chemicals age faster still.

What the calibration covers

  • Reading against a reference thermometer at points between −25 °C and +140 °C, with the probe you use
  • Each interchangeable probe checked individually where you send more than one
  • Readout accuracy on instruments that accept external probes
  • Response and stability at each test point

What your certificate records

The certificate format manufacturing procurement and audit teams ask for: the equipment under test, its serial number, the reference instruments used, as-found and as-left readings, environmental conditions and a traceability statement, plus the digital thermometer-specific items below.

  • As-found and as-left readings at each temperature point, per probe
  • Reference thermometer and equipment used, with traceability
  • Environmental conditions at the time of calibration

Standards & frameworks in manufacturing

  • ISO 9001 quality management system
  • ISO 10012 (referenced) — measurement management
  • AS/NZS 3760 for portable electrical equipment on plant
  • Customer-specific PPAP / quality requirements

How manufacturing clients get digital thermometers and probes to us

Calibration is performed in our Caversham lab — not on site. We collect from and deliver back to manufacturing workshops and offices across Perth, and instruments from regional sites come by freight or via your Perth base.

  • Canning Vale and Bibra Lake manufacturing precincts
  • Welshpool and Kewdale fabrication and assembly workshops
  • Malaga light industrial and trade workshops
  • Osborne Park commercial and QC laboratories

Working with manufacturing procurement

We work with quality and production teams to align calibration intervals with your control plan, supply certificates that map directly to your gauge register, and schedule recall reminders so nothing falls out of cal during a production run.

FAQ

Digital thermometer calibration for manufacturing FAQs

Our food-safety program wants calibration every six months — can you set that up?
Yes. We record the interval you specify and remind you before it falls due, so the thermometer is back in the lab on schedule.
Do you calibrate the probe with the thermometer?
Yes, and that is the point — send the probes you actually use, and each one is checked with the readout so the certificate reflects the combination you measure with.
Which temperature points do you use?
Points you specify between −25 °C and +140 °C, typically covering the low, middle and high ends of the range you actually work over. Tell us the temperatures that matter to your process and we will include them. Above 140 °C is outside our range and we will say so rather than certify part of the scale.
